We are thrilled to announce that one of our esteemed UVA alumni, Aiya (Alice) Perrine, Class of 2022, double majoring in Japanese and Linguistics, is serving as a Youth Ambassador for the 2025 World Expo in Osaka, Japan. Perrine is one of 89 young leaders chosen from more than 1,500 applicants to represent the United States at this six-month-long global event. As a Youth Ambassador, she is serving as an exhibit guide and cultural representative at the U.S. Pavilion.  Perrine, who now works as a paralegal in New Haven, Connecticut, previously served as an Assistant Language Teacher (ALT) and taught English to young students in Akita, Japan, for two years.

The 2025 World Expo, which runs until October 13, brings together nations from around the globe to present new technologies, cultural initiatives, and solutions for the future. Perrine is excited to represent the United States with her cross-cultural working experience and language skills, and she hopes to inspire UVA students with her journey.
