Wen Guo received her PhD in Foreign Language Education from the University at Buffalo. Before joining UVA, she developed Chinese language and culture curricula in diverse educational settings such as the University at Buffalo, Buffalo Seminary High School, and Middlebury College, where she actively supported and implemented community-engaged learning experiences. Since 2019, she has been developing the “Global Reach” virtual exchange program, connecting over 1,000 students from America with students from China. Her students are highly motivated to excel and have won various national awards, scholarships, and contests, demonstrating their proficiency and enthusiasm for learning Chinese. She is dedicated to providing the same level of enriching and engaging transformative learning experiences for her students at UVA.

Her research interests focus on how community service learning, project-based learning, and virtual exchanges can empower students to actively engage with cultural communities, cultivate a deeper understanding of different cultures, and foster meaningful connections among students. As an active member of ACTFL, AAAL, and CLTA, Guo consistently seeks professional development opportunities to enhance her teaching and is committed to advancing foreign language education. She is the Chair for the ACTFL Teaching and Learning of Culture SIG and a committee member of the ACTFL Convention. She was the recipient of the 2022 ACTFL Global Engagement Initiative Award and the 2021 CLTA Tao-Chung Ted Yao Memorial Award.
