Chris, one of our Japanese majors, will be attending the Columbia University Mailman School of Public Health where he will pursue a Masters of Public Health (MPH) in Epidemiology with a certificate in Comparative Effectiveness Outcomes Research. Specifically, this field of study seeks to inform health-care decisions by providing evidence on the effectiveness, benefits, and harms of different treatment options. Using his training in Japanese that he received from our department and the knowledge he gained through the completion of his DMP thesis that focuses on the traditional Japanese medicine of kanpō, his ultimate goal is to apply such comparative studies to both Eastern and Western medical practices.
