The department would like to congratulate our current East Asian Studies Postdoctorate Research Associate,  Miyabi Goto, on her hiring by the University of Kentucky in a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Japan Studies. We are very grateful to Dr. Goto for her extensive contributions to our department, where she offered a broad range of topics and approaches teaching courses that ranged from Japanese literature and translation studies to East Asian media culture, and wish her the best in all her future endeavors.

Congratulations go out to Japanese Language and Literature major Kevin Woolsey on the successful completion of his DMP thesis "Reconsidering Late Muromachi Nō: The Plays of Kanze Nagatoshi (1488-c. 1541)" and also on his admission to the PhD program at Princeton, where he will be studying premodern Japanese literature beginning in the fall.
