Thank you for joining the 1000 Cranes Project!

On Feb. 18, the Japanese Language Program and the Japanese Student Association (JSA) co-hosted a special community event as part of the international 1000 Cranes Project, commemorating the 15th anniversary of the 2011 Great East Japan Earthquake and Tsunami (東日本大震災).

A special thank you to the JSA officers and student volunteers who planned the event, guided attendees with origami, and stayed until the very end to help with cleanup. Your leadership and kindness made the event truly shine.

Thank you also to our colleagues who participated after long teaching days or amid intensive preparation for the external academic review. Your presence deeply supported the spirit of community we hoped to create.

I am happy to share that the individual photos taken at the site have been submitted to the organizer of the 10,000‑crane project—an effort honoring lives lost and celebrating the bonds between Japan and the global community.

The attached photo collage captures the warmth, care, and the spirit of remembrance, connection, and hope that you all brought to this event.

I deeply appreciate the generous support we received from the Department of East Asian Languages, Literatures, and Cultures (EALLC).

Thank you again to everyone who participated.

一緒に折り鶴を折ってくださった皆さま、ありがとうございました!
